Rosebank, the Cape Town suburb in which we live, is quiet and full of many homes going back 100 years or more. Our apartment block itself is over 80 years old.

This flower and tree is the beautiful and very fragrant Frangapani. (Look familiar, M&H? Don't these also grow in Hawaii?)

Hike up Chapman's Peak

The group for this hike: Mike, Matthews, Gytha, Will, Neil, and us!


This hike goes up Chapman's Peak, one of the peaks on the Cape Peninsula (and a 30 min. drive away). We joined in with a few others from church one Saturday morning. Had some tea and snacks at the top, but it was chilly! Then the sun came out on our way down.

Soccer in Rosebank Park

A typical Sunday afternoon activity of choice in our neighborhood park: Frisbee or soccer - or frisbee/soccer golf! (Thanks to Craig for my Christmas present of a soccer ball!!)

What to do with so many tomatoes? Make quiche!

In one of our first boxes of fruit and veg shipments a few weeks ago (for explanation see posting below), we received about 20 tomatoes. Julianna made this lovely quiche which included fresh basil from the small communal herb garden shared by the residents of our apartment block.
